Mr. Sajit Awal

Born in a lower middle class family having agriculture background is a permanent resident of Saraswatikhel, Bhaktapur. His family consists of six members and he is only son to his parents having three other elder sisters. His life was going well and the earnings of family were just enough to meet the basic requirements of the family. He was studying in 10+2 level when the devastating earthquake hit Nepal on 25thApril 2015 taking lives of nearly 9000 people and destructing many buildings and houses. His house was also partially damaged and they were compelled to live in a rented house. Being a middle class family it was very difficult for them to manage fund as there was extra burden of rent after the catastrophe. He also could not continue his education due to financial condition of his family. Mr. Awal then decided to involve in some income generating activities so that he will be able to help in reducing the financial burden of the family.

While he was wandering in search of job opportunities, he met his old friend working in a Mobile Repairing Center. His friend advised him to enroll in skill training conducted by UCEP Nepal, Sanothimi Bhaktapur. Having discontinued his education and the strong determination of supporting his family led him to learn vocational skill at Sano Thimi Technical School (STTS). He chose Mobile Repairing Training as he was inspired from his friend and was selected for the same at STTS. He was enrolled in iLEAD 16thbatch training program supported by Aide-et-Action. He was fully committed in training and was one of the best students of his batch. Vocational training accompanied with different confident building activities, soft skills and exposure visits helped him to learn technical as well as other soft skills required in job environment. Also, in leisure time he visited his friends Mobile Repairing Center and engaged in repairing work which eventually helped to sharpen his knowledge and skills.

After completion of training, he was placed in OLIZ store by Placement Unit of UCEP Nepal. OLIZ store works in repairing and maintaining mobile phones. Seeing his strong determination and skills he was hired permanently by the company. He now earns Nrs. 25000 per month and has also been contributing in building his damaged house which is now nearly being completed. He has also continued his further education and is happy to work and support his family.

He is thankful to entire team of UCEP Nepal for providing him a platform to learn vocational education and is committed to continue his profession on the same line in future.
