Message From General Secretary
Namaste !
UCEP- Nepal core work of providing Education and Vocational Training to children is a great effort in contributing to the national economy by producing skilled manpower which will go in a long way to add to the strength of trained and skilled manpower from Nepal.
Every day nearly 1000 manpower is leaving the country looking for foreign employment and to better their income. Unfortunately, nearly 60 – 70% of this manpower is unskilled. As we know the salary of skilled manpower is much more than that of unskilled.
The policymakers of the country have to review and seriously take decision in changing the education system in Nepal, where Vocational or Technical Education has to be given equal importance as Formal Education. The recognition for VT Education and its importance has to be imparted to children from an early age when they are in Class Eight, so that by the time they pass their Class Ten exams they are clear as to where they want to go further i.e. for Formal or Vocational education depending on their interests. We should put a stop to all the children going in for only Formal education just because of prestige which does not help the country other than increasing the number of unskilled manpower thus resulting in unemployment in the country and forcing the youth then be exploited for doing the menial jobs at very low salaries in other countries.
Nepal needs more Skilled manpower for the progress and prosperity of the country. There has to be a movement created whereby the mushrooming of schools with under-standard Formal education institutions with the only motive of earning money should be put a stop to by the Government, through strict inspection and monitoring system in place. Formal Education is also important but Formal and Vocational Education should go hand in hand for bringing out quality in our children which can then give them good options for employment. If we see the history of the world, all the current developed countries during the times of their growth had given high importance and recognition to their Technical manpower and are still following it even today.
UCEP- Nepal, as an institution has gone through its share of hardships over the year and is now on the move. We hope that with the experience of years with it in imparting the Vocational Training to our youth, UCEP- Nepal will, in the coming years, progress much more. UCEP- NepalUCEP is in the process of reviewing its current training programs and will be making improvements, changes and adding new skill training programs as per the current demands of the market.
UCEP- Nepal will also be going ahead with the partnership with leading private companies of Nepal in jointly developing its training facilities apart from upgrading the training facilities.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the UCEP- Nepal Executive Board Chairman and its members for providing me with all the guidance and support in developing the plans and policies for the coming years.
