Education Support Program

It supports children enrolled in community schools by providing educational materials and others like school bag, uniform and stationary etc. It identifies needy children and support needed to minimize school drop-out rate and motivate children at the same time to excel in their academia performance. Furthermore, it works closely with School Management and Parents for betterment of children’s performance. In the initial phase of its inception, it launched non-formal education spanning duration of four years where in students were promoted to higher class every six months through condensed course. The course of study focused mainly on Nepali, English, Mathematics and Science. Graduates of class 8 were then enrolled to vocational stream of the choice of the student. Non-formal education program, aimed at providing support to those who were unable to pursue education because of financial constraint, was launched in 1978 in five districts namely Dang, Kathmandu, Morang, Bhaktapur and Banke. However, this program had to be shelved when the government announced free primary education throughout the country in 1975. The money earmarked for this program was diverted to provide educational materials, school uniform, bags etc. Schools that were supported by UCEP, Nepal of that time were
