UCEP-Nepal, a leading NGO of Nepal, works on four major thematic areas namely Technical and Vocational Education &Training, Educational Support Program, Child Rights and Child Protection and Child Right Advocacy & Networking by ensuring child rights and increasing access of children & young people to formal and vocational education.
UCEP- Nepal is probably only NGO of Nepal having its own infrastructures and facilities with state of art workshop for providing vocational training to underprivileged and marginalized youth from different communities. Being a pioneer organization and having experience of more than 40 years working in this field UCEP – Nepal has been able to produce more than 60,000 graduates in vocational training, provide educational services to many underprivileged children and youth and correctional services to children in conflict with the law. Since establishment, it has been working with different multilateral, bilateral, I/NGO’s, Government and private organization for ensuring dignified life and livelihood of youth and children. UCEP-Nepal has also established itself at a national policy level along with CTEVT and different partner organizations by managing knowledge management network, conducting national level seminars on TVET etc for policy level plans and programs.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all Life and General Members for entrusting faith in me as Chairperson of UCEP- Nepal. The new Executive Members are very much committed to work for underprivileged children and unemployed youth towards dignified living. I had served UCEP Nepal in past years in the capacity of General Secretary and am very much pleased to be connected now with the organization as Chairperson. I am very glad to share with you yet another edition of our yearly magazine STRIDES that showcases various activities and progress that the organization has achieved in the last fiscal year.
We have been able to extend the facility of Juvenile Correction Home in partnership with Nepal Government in Nepalgunj which is in operation now. Similarly, we entered into an agreement with new organizations like International Labour Organization (ILO), Plan International and BRAC for delivering skills training. Furthermore, project partnership with Finn Church Aid, Swisscontact for Youth Employment Project (YEP), Kaadorie and Kathy has been continued. We also completed the reconstruction of community buildings damaged by the devastating earthquake of April 2015 in the southern region of Lalitpur in partnership with Finn Church Aid. We have been able to upgrade the Socialization Center to another level by constructing school and basketball court, painting rooms, introducing different engaging activities like organic farming for children residing there.
Last but not least, the vision of an organization is only achievable by teamwork and collective efforts of all the stakeholders associated with the organization. I am grateful to the previous Executive Committee for the uplifting organization to this remarkable position and hope for their continuous cooperation in the future as well. I also take this opportunity to thank all our Partners, Executive Committee Members, General, and Life Members and dedicated Staff Members for their support and cooperation in improving the lives of underprivileged children and youth.
